My name is Harry Bushell, I'm a Bachelor of Design graduate from the University of Auckland.

 

UoA's design degree places a heavy focus on Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design, and throughout my degree, these skills have become accustomed to my work. Throughout my degree and part-time work, I've become proficient with the use of the Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modelling AutoCAD programs, video editing software like DaVinci Resolve, and have had lots of success working in team environments, as well as developed a great understanding of design methodologies like Human-Centered Design.

 

Sustainability was a huge part of my university journey, as a heavy focus was placed on cyclic systems and sustainable growth by our tutors. With this, I've developed skills in multiple design disciplines. An example of this was my final year capstone project, where I wrote a sustainability research proposal on redeveloping habitats in urban spaces. This proposal carried into a 6 month project where I created a new type of screw-in stud for sports footwear that housed and distributed seeds throughout active play, sowing native plants into underutilised green urban spaces to create habitats focused on restoring the environmental equilibrium for endangered local species.

 

Alongside this, my part-time content creation work for the UoA PPC club, Takapuna AFC, and Soccer FC has resulted in a strong understanding of graphic design and social media management. Through my love for sport, I’ve always had a knack for community building and involvement, and pride myself on being able to integrate into new team environments quickly, and take initiative to lead when required. I enjoy working alongside multiple disciplines and in a multitude of different team environments.

 

I think that design allows connection and relationship building with clients from heaps of different areas, all under one role, which facilitates my love of learning and improving while also allowing me to dip my toes in a wide range of professional environments.
